Relationships, Brokenheartedness & Attachment Disorders

At Solutions, we offer a wide range of services aimed at improving relationships. These can be parent-child, sibling - sibling, partner-partner, husband-wife or colleague-colleague.

I never ceased to be astonished at how many couples go through relationship counselling that appears to cause more friction and ultimately ends up advising on a mutually acceptable way to separate, as opposed to helping couples rekindle a faltering relationship. We have some fairly unique therapies for individuals and couples who genuinely want to remain together.

In addition to this we increasingly see clients who are broken hearted along with all that that implies. They are experiencing loss, grief, rejection, helplessness, even trauma. While it obviously is natural to grieve the loss of a loved one it is important to understand that this is a process which can be helped and , as with death, the natural response is a process to work through not a debilitating cycle or downward spiral to be endured. Romantic break up can even lead to post traumatic stress disorder if the appropriate help and understanding is not on hand. We pride ourselves on our very positive approach and personalised therapies for dealing with a broken heart.

As a result of dysfunctional relationships with their origins in abuse, former broken heart or their parental model we can, as adults, go on to have a wide range of attachment disorders normally compounding one on another. The first step in correcting is to recognise the pattern e.g. an abusing or drunken partner, or failing usually through fear, to commit to a relationship etc. As with any inappropriate behaviour, these can be effectively addressed and a more healthy approach generated in its place.
