button Who am I?

My name is Barry White, and I have been working with both adults and children for over  twenty five years now, in a variety of settings as you will see below.

button   My experience

For twenty five years I have worked with people in different capacities, always using counselling skills although not always trained as a counsellor. These roles included Baptist Minister and Hospital Chaplain, Social Worker, Youth Worker - and finally Counsellor!

The experience gained has been immense since becoming a counsellor:-

button   Nine years in primary care (working in GP surgery)

button   Further two years working for an Employee Assistance Programme

In both these settings I have had to deal with a spectrum of situations ranging from mild to severe mental health problems, relationship issues and wider aspects of loss. I have also worked with a wide age range from children up to those nearing the end of their time.

It would seem fair to say then that my experience taken as a whole is vast - and having had to deal with my own losses has given me insights that have certainly helped.

button   My qualifications

In addition to qualifications in other areas my counselling qualifications have consisted of two post graduate diplomas, both two years in length:-

button Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling (UWCN Ebbw Vale)

button   Post Graduate Diploma in Solution Focused Brief Therapy (Univ of Birmingham Westhill)

button   Current involvement

I am an Executive Member of the United Kingdom Association for Solution Focused Practice.

I am also a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their Code of Conduct and ethical guidelines

Please do feel free to ask me any question on any aspect of my training or experience - I will be only too glad to answer your questions.
